About Guns N Roses

Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1985 from L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose. After signing with Geffen Records in 1986, the band's "classic" lineup featured vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler. Guns N' Roses gained a local following before releasing their debut album Appetite for Destruction (1987), which initially struggled until the breakout success of the "Welcome to the Jungle" music video. The album sold over 30 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling debut album in the U.S., and spawned hits like "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child o' Mine". Their follow-up, G N' R Lies (1988) combined earlier material with new acoustic songs and reached number two on the Billboard 200, sold ten million copies globally, and featured the hit "Patience" and the controversial "One in a Million". In 1990, Adler was replaced by Matt Sorum due to drug issues, and keyboardist Dizzy Reed joined. Their 1991 twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II debuted at numbers two and one on the Billboard 200 and sold a combined 35 million copies worldwide.

Guns N Roses — Rare Footage & Clips

Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band that has left an indelible mark on music history, and their influence can still be felt today. Formed in 1985 from the ashes of L.A. Guns and Hollywood Rose, the band's "classic" lineup featured vocalist Axl Rose, lead guitarist Slash, rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin, bassist Duff McKagan, and drummer Steven Adler.

One of the most significant aspects of Guns N' Roses' career is their debut album Appetite for Destruction (1987), which initially struggled to gain traction until the breakout success of the "Welcome to the Jungle" music video. This iconic clip, available on DeepCutsArchive, showcases the band's raw energy and Axl Rose's signature snarl. The album went on to sell over 30 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling debut album in the U.S., and spawned hits like "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child o' Mine". This level of success was unprecedented for a debut album at the time, and it cemented Guns N' Roses' status as one of the most exciting new bands on the scene.

The band's follow-up, G N' R Lies (1988), is another significant release in their discography. This album combined earlier material with new acoustic songs and reached number two on the Billboard 200, sold ten million copies globally, and featured the hit "Patience" and the controversial "One in a Million". The latter song's lyrics were criticized for their perceived racism, leading to accusations of hypocrisy given the band's earlier reputation as rebels against the mainstream. However, it is worth noting that the song was not intended to be racist, but rather a commentary on societal issues.

In 1990, Adler was replaced by Matt Sorum due to drug issues, and keyboardist Dizzy Reed joined the band. This lineup change marked a new era for Guns N' Roses, as they began working on their twin albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. These albums debuted at numbers two and one on the Billboard 200 respectively, and sold a combined 35 million copies worldwide.

The significance of these albums lies not only in their commercial success but also in their musical innovation. The band's use of keyboards and synthesizers added a new dimension to their sound, creating a more polished and refined style that was a departure from their earlier raw energy. This shift in sound was reflected in the music videos for songs like "November Rain" and "Don't Cry", both of which are available on DeepCutsArchive.

The Use Your Illusion I & II World Tour – 1992 in Tokyo (1992) concert footage, also available on our archive, showcases the band's live performances during this period. The tour was a massive success, with the band playing to sold-out crowds and delivering high-energy performances that left audiences breathless.

Guns N' Roses' impact on music history cannot be overstated. They were one of the first bands to bring back the raw energy and rebellious spirit of rock 'n' roll in the late 1980s, paving the way for future generations of musicians. Their influence can still be heard in many modern rock bands, and their music remains as relevant today as it was when they first burst onto the scene.

In addition to their musical contributions, Guns N' Roses also played a significant role in shaping the music industry's approach to marketing and promotion. The band's use of music videos as a key promotional tool helped to establish the medium as a crucial component of an artist's career strategy. This was reflected in the massive success of "Welcome to the Jungle", which became one of the first rock music videos to receive heavy rotation on MTV.

The band's legacy extends beyond their music, however. They were also known for their iconic style and fashion sense, which helped to define the aesthetic of the late 1980s. Axl Rose's signature look, complete with his bleached-blond hair and leather pants, became a symbol of rebellion and nonconformity.

In conclusion, Guns N' Roses is an American hard rock band that has left an indelible mark on music history. Their debut album Appetite for Destruction (1987) was a game-changer in the music industry, selling over 30 million copies worldwide and spawning hits like "Paradise City" and "Sweet Child o' Mine". The band's follow-up albums, including G N' R Lies (1988) and Use Your Illusion I & II (1991), solidified their status as one of the most exciting new bands on the scene. Their influence can still be felt today, and their music remains as relevant as ever.

However, it is worth noting that the band's legacy has also been marred by controversy and personal struggles. The departure of Steven Adler in 1990 marked a turning point for the band, and Axl Rose's increasingly erratic behavior led to tensions within the group. Despite these challenges, Guns N' Roses continued to produce music and tour, leaving behind a lasting impact on the world of rock 'n' roll.

The archive footage available on DeepCutsArchive provides a unique glimpse into the band's history, showcasing their early days as a struggling new act to their later years as one of the biggest bands in the world. The "Welcome to the Jungle" music video, available on our platform, is a must-see for anyone interested in rock 'n' roll history.

In addition to their iconic music videos, the archive also features live concert footage from the Use Your Illusion I & II World Tour – 1992 in Tokyo (1992). This footage showcases the band's high-energy performances and provides a unique insight into their live shows during this period.

Guns N' Roses' legacy extends far beyond their music, however. They were also known for their iconic style and fashion sense, which helped to define the aesthetic of the late 1980s. Axl Rose's signature look, complete with his bleached-blond hair and leather pants, became a symbol of rebellion and nonconformity.

The band's influence can still be seen in many modern rock bands, who draw inspiration from their raw energy and rebellious spirit. Their music remains as relevant today as it was when they first burst onto the scene, and their legacy continues to inspire new generations of musicians.

In the years since their formation, Guns N' Roses have undergone numerous lineup changes and personal struggles, but their impact on music history remains unchanged. They were one of the first bands to bring back the raw energy and rebellious spirit of rock 'n' roll in the late 1980s, paving the way for future generations of musicians.

The archive footage available on DeepCutsArchive provides a unique glimpse into the band's history, showcasing their early days as a struggling new act to their later years as one of the biggest bands in the world.
