1. Who we are

DeepCutsArchive (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a personal project operated by Jamie McDonnell. This site curates and indexes rare, behind-the-scenes musician footage by embedding videos hosted on third-party platforms. We do not host video files ourselves.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Account information

When you create an account you provide an email address and password. You may optionally add a display name, bio, and avatar. Authentication is handled by Supabase; passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

2.2 Submissions

When you submit a clip — via the website or the Chrome extension — we store the video URL, any title, artist name, and description you provide. If you are logged in, your user ID is linked to the submission. If you are not logged in, you may optionally provide an email address so we can notify you if your submission is approved.

2.3 Favourites and shares

When you favourite a clip, we store the association between your account and that clip. Favourites are private and visible only to you. When you share a clip via the share buttons, we record the platform you shared to (e.g. Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp), the clip, and your user ID if you are logged in. Anonymous shares record only the platform and clip.

2.4 Artist requests

If you request an artist be added to the archive, we store the artist name and, if you are logged in, your user ID.

2.5 Cookies and session data

We use essential cookies only— specifically Supabase authentication cookies that maintain your login session. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies of our own. However, embedded third-party content may set its own cookies (see Section 4).

2.6 Chrome extension

The DeepCutsArchive Clipper browser extension stores your login credentials(email and authentication tokens) locally in your browser's sync storage to keep you signed in. When you use the extension to submit a clip, it reads the current page URL and title and extracts the video title and artist/channel name from the page. This information is sent to our servers only when you click submit. The extension does not run in the background or collect browsing history.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain your account
  • Process and review clip submissions
  • Display contributor profiles and leaderboards (only for users with approved submissions and public profiles)
  • Send you a notification if a submission you made is approved (email submissions only)
  • Track aggregate share counts to surface popular clips
  • Improve the archive and understand how it is used

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Third-party services and embeds

DeepCutsArchive embeds video content from third-party platforms. When you view a page containing an embedded video, the hosting platform may collect information about you independently. The platforms we currently embed from include:

We have no control over the data these platforms collect through their embeds. We encourage you to review their respective privacy policies.

4.1 Supabase

We use Supabasefor authentication, database hosting, and server-side operations. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

4.2 Sponsor links

This site is sponsored by GigFriend (gig-friend.com). The sponsor banner links to an external site. We do not share any of your data with our sponsor.

5. Browser notifications

On clip pages, we may request permission to send you browser notifications. These are used solely as a re-engagement prompt if you navigate away from a clip you were watching. No data about your browsing is stored or transmitted — notifications are handled entirely within your browser. You can revoke notification permission at any time through your browser settings.

6. Public visibility

If you have approved submissions on the archive, your display name and submission count may appear on contributor leaderboards and profile pages. You can control whether your profile is publicly visible via the is_public setting on your profile. Anonymous submissions are never linked to a public profile.

7. Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Submission data is retained indefinitely as part of the archive's historical record, even if your account is deleted — though the submission will be disassociated from your identity. Share records are retained for aggregate statistics. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.

8. Data security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information. Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms. Database access is controlled through row-level security policies that restrict users to their own data. Administrative access is limited to authorised personnel. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your personal data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Request a portable copy of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 11.

10. Children's privacy

DeepCutsArchive is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Contact

If you have any questions about this privacy policy or wish to exercise your data rights, please contact us at: privacy@deepcutsarchive.com

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “last updated” date. Your continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
