Fire! Orchestra is a project with 28 skilled jazzmusicians from different groups in Sweden and some soloartists. They served a dish with mindbreaking free-form jazz. This evening at Victoriateatern in Malmö, Sweden was very much a treat! Mats Gustafsson, the tenorsaxophonist in the eminent jazzgroup The Thing, which is collaborating with Neneh Cherry at the moment, is the leader of this project. His conduction of the blowsection was fun to look at, simple but effective. A little reminder of the style of Frank Zappas way of conducting, actually. This documentary clip is from their extranumber. It is not complete, but the sound quality is average. This concert was also dedicated to a bandmember who died a year ago.
