Sort Sol - Siggimund Blue (OFFICIAL VIDEO) Writtend by: (Odde/Odde, P.P.) Off the record: Flow My Firetear (1990) When I was a young child My daddy gave to me The name of Siggimund Blue He wanted me to grow up So that everything written Would in time come true And I fell Hitting years by chance And I recall that I walked Just smiling to the stake Singing sha la la When I was a young child My heart was on fire And the air would burst aflame Flowers were growing Nothing knowing Could be just the same And I loved it As I always do And I recall that I walked Just smiling to the stake Singing sha la la Come on now my baby Come on now my love This could be forever Written from above When I was a young child My daddy gave to me The tales of Siggimund Blue He wanted me to know that Things surely written Could in time come true And I read it Emerging with each turn And when I left off the scene I could sense in a gleam That I would surely burn burn Come on now baby Come on now my love This could be forever Written from above

About This Footage

Sort Sol's "Siggimund Blue" is a rare and haunting gem, unearthed from the depths of 1992. This six-minute clip, shot in 480p at 25fps, is a poignant snapshot of a band on the cusp of something new. Sort Sol, formed in Copenhagen in 1977 as Sods, had already undergone a name change by this point, embracing their moniker "Sort Sol," which translates to "black sun" in English.

At the time of filming, Sort Sol was still very much rooted in punk rock's DIY ethos. Their music, like many of their Danish contemporaries, was characterized by raw energy and rebellious spirit. But with songs like "Siggimund Blue," it's clear that they were beginning to explore new sonic territories. The lyrics, penned by Odde/Odde and P.P., paint a picture of childhood innocence, love, and the promise of a brighter future.

This clip is significant not only because of its rarity but also because it offers a glimpse into Sort Sol's creative process during this pivotal period. The song "Siggimund Blue" itself is an enigmatic tale of love, loss, and transformation. The lyrics weave together themes of childhood memories, the power of storytelling, and the longing for transcendence.

The video, shot in a simple yet effective style, captures the band's performance with a mix of close-ups and wide shots. The camera work is unobtrusive, allowing the viewer to focus on the music and the emotions it evokes. It's clear that Sort Sol was still finding their footing as a live act at this point, but there's an undeniable chemistry between them.

One of the most striking aspects of "Siggimund Blue" is its connection to Sort Sol's earlier work. The song appears on the album "Flow My Firetear," released in 1990, which marked a departure from their punk roots and towards a more experimental sound. This clip serves as a bridge between that era and the band's future explorations.

Watching "Siggimund Blue" is like stepping into a time capsule. It's a reminder of the raw energy and creative potential that Sort Sol embodied in the early 1990s. The song's themes of love, loss, and transformation are timeless, and its haunting melody will linger long after the clip ends.

In an era where nostalgia for the 1980s and 1990s is all too common, "Sort Sol ◄► Siggimund Blue" offers a refreshing respite from the usual retro fare. This rare footage is a testament to Sort Sol's innovative spirit and their willingness to push boundaries in their music. It's a must-watch for fans of underground rock, experimental sounds, and anyone interested in exploring the lesser-known corners of Danish music history.

As the song fades out, one can't help but feel that "Siggimund Blue" is more than just a rare clip – it's an invitation to explore Sort Sol's discography and experience their unique blend of punk, rock, and experimentation.
