Vehicle Production Resumes! Also, 1st Crash Test Conducted! 27 Sep 2023 Giga Texas Update (07:55AM)
Gigafactory Texas on 27 September 2023! This is where Model Y’s and Cyber Truck production happens! Another busy & milestone day! Production has resumed with the End-of-Line ramp and area busy on the west side of General Assembly, about 50 Model Y's in the testing and calibration lot, 2 Cybertrucks, one supercharging and the other in the outbound lot, and the first crash tested vehicle (Model Y) was being examined in the Crash Test facility! I also got a good look at the Welcome back to work sign for returning employees. There is also the Model Y with horns as part of the welcome message! This is located on the east side of the factory and is where the turn styles are to ensure employees’ badges are checked before entry. In the video introduction, we discuss the welcome back display for returning workers, and the visit of the Hungarian President on 25 September. I also discuss a new Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) document and what this means for the new Giga Texas Cyber Cafeteria. Finally, I discuss another new permit and where this effort will take place on the main site, and what it is meant to do. Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 4:49 Drone flight footage & infographics: 5:11 to 33:59 A few other highlights from today’s flight include: On the west side of the highway, more grade work and Geotextile membrane installation between the West Warehouse on Wheels and the new End-of-Line (EOL) facility. This continues to enlarge the new outbound lot around the EOL facility. The facility itself is getting the last segment of ground slab prepared for eventual concrete, while more steel, wall decking, and roof materials are being installed. We see the horizontal drilling preparing to pull the large HDPE fuse welded pipe through under the highway and more trenching for steel corrugated pipes north of the EOL facility. Tesla Road expansion and new intersection with FM 973 continues progress, and I give good views of how FM973 itself is being widened, both on the north and south of the new intersection area. I noted the welding shop near this area has been dismantled, and only steel and concrete parts are now being staged here. This indicated the steel modification work in this area has now concluded. There are noticeably fewer materials for the expansion of General Assembly Lines #2 and #3 on the west side of the main building as most of this has now been moved inside and has been added to the new lines. This is another great sign of the progress behind the walls. The temporary End-of-Line area, ramp and vehicle staging location was busy today, with Mode Y's exiting the building via the ramp again. Plenty of more things to see and discuss in the main video but check out all these images and I bet you'll see some very interesting things while waiting for the video to process and upload.
