Presidents Day, White Stain, Traffic Circle progress! 20 February 2023 Giga Texas Updates (10:35AM)
Gigafactory Texas on 20 February 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start! Today I flew a bit later than normal so I could go to the SpaceX and Boring company site and film in addition to fly at Giga Texas. As a consequence of this, I will not provide narration in the video today, so this will give everyone who would rather interpret what they see for themselves. This is the Presidents Day holiday in the USA today, so this did impact a little of the activity on the site, but not all that much, and it was busier than other recent holidays. This helped with traffic driving up and back from my home, so that was why I decided to get footage at two different sites today. Just after I started flying at Giga Texas, the winds began to pick up to a high enough level that impacted the routes I could fly today, so the video is a little shorter than normal, but I still was able to cover a good amount of the overall construction site. Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 2:32 Drone flight footage & infographics: 3:00 to 24:18 In the video introduction, we discuss the changes at the west main entrance, with more concrete work in and around the area where the trapezoidal slab is located directly in front of the glass doors. In addition, nearby, more trees for landscaping have been delivered near where the clearing and excavation work is underway, near the west berm. We also discuss the progress with the white staining of the exterior concrete panels on the south end of the main factory, now progressing past the halfway point, working from the east to the west. Crews were cleaning the next segment of wall panels that will receive the white stain next. Finally, we discuss the changes at the east intersection (traffic circle, roundabout, vehicular interfacing area, or whatever you prefer to call this section that makes you happy), we see the crews have applied more concrete to several sections, and this area is beginning to look nearly finished now. Here are a few items of interest today: At the Die Shop, we see that about 99% of the steel part assembly and the roof decking is now completed, along with another large section of ground slab. The east 32-supercharging station has now had half of the canopy with solar panels installed, and it appears the next section is being prepared to begin assembly later this week. We also see a large number of Model Y’s in the small parking lot nearby. We see crews busy this morning up at the electrical switchyard (or, if you prefer to use Substation) too. They are finishing the last of the footings on the east side, and work continues near the transformers on the south end.
