Plaid Main Entrance, Turbo Roundabout & Liner Plate Shafts! 24 Feb 2023 Giga Texas Updates (07:15AM)
Gigafactory Texas on 24 February 2023! This is where Model Y’s are built and soon Cyber Truck production will start! I started out early this morning before sunrise on a cloudy and cooler morning, which brightened up into a great lighting opportunity for images and video around the site! The west main entrance is really shaping up now, both on the inside and outside, showing the trapezoidal shape extends inside the glass doors and a new staircase near the north windows. The overall mezzanine reconfiguration work seems nearly completed, and a raised platform is being installed, possibly for Investors Day next week. Timestamps: Drone flight overview with discussion & illustration: 0:06 to 2:56 Discussion about Liner Plate Shaft Construction: 2:57 to 5:59 Drone flight footage & infographics: 6:27 to 31:03 In the video introduction, I discuss an upcoming pre-Tesla investors day hosted by various YouTubers from 12:00 to 5:00 Pm on 1 March. There will be a panel discussion and I’ll be one of the YouTubers you’ll be able to ask questions concerning Giga Texas, Drone flights and more! You can register to attend, but admission is free or you can make a donation to cover the food and drinks. Here is the link if you would like to attend! https://www.eventbrite.com/e/investor-day-pre-game-in-austin-march-1st-tickets-547595010417 Also in the video introduction, I discuss the progress with the west main entrance and I discuss the de-watering work going on at the southwest corner of the main building buy the company Griffin, and also the liner plate shaft that is now being installed. I talk about the purpose of this liner, how it works and look ahead to what this may tell us about future construction on the south end! Some other highlights you'll see in the video today include: South end liner plate shaft construction continues, with the shaft getting much deeper. Crews are actively working to apply more white stain over the area where superchargers are located, and all the Model Ys have been moved away to allow for this work to progress. On the east side, the “Turbo Roundabout” concrete work appears completed with a few more details to go to have this completed, which appears to be the plan ahead of the upcoming Investors Day as well. I fly the drone up to the far north to look at the large clearing with all the materials stored and to check on some new developments, including dirt relocation but I did not see any new soil test drilling that I had thought I observed on my previous video. At the cathode plant, it appears a new bridge crane (or cranes) have arrived at the battery cathode plant (east side). The west side galvanized steel structure shows a lot of progress and pipe manifold installation. The Die Shop deep foundation work is well under way with large forms, rebar being installed, and other activities.
