Coming from a different cultural background of Assam, to unfamiliar direction of Bhojpuri folk music, Kalpana Patowary considers this golden moment as a very rare phenomena of her persona, going the extra miles to set herself as the role model and cultural bridge, respecting the differences of diverse and tolerant India. She is the first woman to record the ‘Chhaprahiya Purvi’ folk form of Purvanchal i.e. a particular region of Bihar and Uttar-Pradesh in 2004. Prior to her work Chhaprahiya Purvi was a male preserve which requires a high octave gigantic vocal range.
