AssameseBhojpuri singer Kalpana Patowary releases the first Official Music Video “Hey Prano Bandhu” from her musical documented album “The Sacred Scriptures of Monikut” from Times Music here in Assam. HEY PRANO BANDHU is Kalpana Patowary’s short musical journey to the famed Vaishnavite shrine MADHUPUR SATRA in Cooch Behar West Bengal – which is in dire straits today. This music video pays obeisance to Srimanta Sankardev and Madhadev and portraits about the serious situation of the Satra, and the hardships and problems faced by the Satra and this important institution fading into oblivion due to neglect by the government as well as public of West Bengal and to draw attention of the people to the Than. Kalpana says, the Madhupur Than, popularly known as Madhupur Dham with great historical and social importance was established by Mahapurush Madhabdev in mid-16th century is facing massive encroachment. From a 400 bigha compound. it has now been reduced to a mere 16 bigha compound. The West Bengal govemment, unfortunately, patronized the encroachers in Madhupur Than land, she said, adding. Some local goons regularly threatens Lakhikanta Mahanta, the dedicated Sattradhikar of Madhupur Than. Anti-social elements regularly create problems in the 'than'. She said, the Madhupur Than is known for precious relics of the two great Assamese Srimanta Sankardeva and Madhavdeva, who constructed the race filled with art, literature and culture for which we can proudly introduce ourselves as one Assamese race in front of the world. Srimanta Sankaradeva, the founder of Eka Sarana Nama Dharma predicted in 1550 during his second pilgrimage that a holy institution would come up here. Madhupur Than at the present location came into being in 1594 at the initiative of Madhavadeva. The sattra houses the rare artefacts like the 467-year-old brass lamp, the Akshaya Banti, the Asthi ie the remnant of the mortal remains of Sankaradeva, his stump, the pair of wooden footwear of the great vaishanava saint, his japamala, the Gunamala, the Burhi Dasama and the Mutha Sastra in the own handwriting of the vaishnava saint, among others. It also has the manuscripts of the Naamghosha and Bhakti-Ratnawali of Madhavadeva and the pair of wooden footwear of the greatest of the Sankara apostles, among others. Beside the Kirtanghar, there is a 105 feet tall Math in the Than. It was constructed in 1964 with a grant from the Government of Assam. Holy relics of Srimanta Sankaradeva and Madhavadeva are preserved in this Math. This has made the Than more special. The devotees perform prayers in the hall of the Math in front of these relics. The seat of Srimanta Sankaradeva is kept at the eastern side in the Math. So the altar is on the western side there unlike in the Kirtanghar. Many relics of Srimanta Sankaradeva like his rosary, footwear, jar, remains of yarn used in Vrindavani cloth, manuscripts etc are preserved in the Than. These are shown to public on two occasions in the year. There is a centuries old honey comb in the Than. Srimanta Sankaradeva had predicted about the setting up of an institution here after he had relished honey at this very site during pilgrimage. The palm tree in the campus is several centuries old. Madhupur Than is a centre of Eka Sarana Nama Dharma with the concept of single worshipable entity, lord Krishna. So through this music video Kalpana Patowary try;s to spread awareness and make a fervent appeal to all secions of the people to make the Satra sustain itself, to keep kindling its Akshya Banti, the lamp lit by Srimanta Sankaradeva about 467 years back that can never be put-off and to save the Satra from the crisis it is now confronting urging the people of Assam to frequently visit the Madhupur Satra to boost the confidence of the Sattradhikar and the devotees of the Than BEFORE IT DISSAPEARS IN THE NEAR FUTURE said the AssameseBhojpuri Singer. Hey Prano Bandhu Kalpana Patowary – vocals Acoustic guitar - Guru Rewben Mashangva Music conceived & produced by Kalpana Patowary. Scriptures by Shree Shree Sankardeva & Shree Shree Madhabdeva.
