About This Footage

This clip page features an interview with New York City jazz drummer Charles Goold, conducted as part of the Neon Jazz series in 2022. The interview is notable for several reasons.

Firstly, the subject matter itself is interesting. Charles Goold's background and experiences are unique and worth exploring. As a musician from New York City, his father was a trumpeter for Harry Connick Jr., and his mother has Haitian descent. This blend of influences likely shapes his musical style and approach to jazz drumming.

The context in which this interview is presented also adds value. The Neon Jazz series, hosted by Joe Dimino since 2011, offers a platform for listeners to engage with the world of jazz music. With its roots in Kansas City, Missouri, the program provides a localized perspective on America's rich musical heritage. By airing on local radio stations and online platforms, Neon Jazz reaches a dedicated audience seeking high-quality content.

Another aspect worth highlighting is the quality of production. The interview itself is well-filmed, with clear audio and visuals that allow viewers to focus on Goold's story. The inclusion of external links to related content, such as KCXL radio station and All About Jazz, demonstrates a commitment to providing comprehensive information for those interested in learning more.

By sharing his experiences and techniques, Goold provides valuable lessons for aspiring musicians and fans alike. His discussion of his time at Juilliard and his work on various projects showcases the dedication required to succeed in this field.

Furthermore, this clip serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving rare and unique content. As an interview from 2022, it captures a specific moment in time, offering a glimpse into the current state of jazz music. The fact that it is labeled as "rare" highlights its value to those interested in the subject matter.

Lastly, the clip's connection to other artists and bands adds context.
