*Sorry it's a bit shaky & isn't the best quality!* Last few seconds of Full House Theme Song Relient K performing live @ Soma on the "Panic With A K Tour" November 17, 2005 San Diego, CA

About Relient K

Relient K is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Canton, Ohio by Matt Thiessen, Matt Hoopes, and Brian Pittman during their third year in high school and time at Malone University in Canton. The band is named after guitarist Hoopes' automobile, a Plymouth Reliant K car, with the spelling intentionally altered to avoid trademark infringement over the Reliant name.

About This Footage

This grainy, 23-second clip is a fleeting glimpse into the frenetic energy of Relient K's live shows in 2005. The band, then on their "Panic with a K" tour, was careening through the West Coast, leaving a trail of sweaty fans and shattered eardrums in their wake. This particular snippet captures the final seconds of their take on the Full House theme song, a bizarre choice that speaks to the band's irreverent spirit.

At this point in their career, Relient K was riding high on the success of their 2004 album "Two Lefts Don't Make a Right...but Three Do". The album had yielded several singles, including the catchy, pop-infused "Be My Escape", which showcased the band's ability to craft hooks that stuck. But it was also clear that they were never going to be bound by traditional rock conventions - their music was a messy fusion of punk, pop, and Christian rock influences.

This clip is notable not just for its rarity (it's one of the few live videos from this era available online), but also for its insight into Relient K's irreverent stage presence. The band members were known for their goofy antics and banter with the crowd, which added to the infectious energy of their live shows. Here, Matt Thiessen is seen grinning maniacally as he launches into the Full House theme, while his bandmates Matt Hoopes and Brian Pittman trade off on guitar and bass duties.

The clip's shaky quality only adds to its charm - it feels like a raw, unpolished document of a moment in time. The sound is tinny and distorted, but you can still make out the familiar melody of the Full House theme, played with Relient K's signature frenetic energy. It's a small window into a specific moment in the band's history - one that captures their offbeat sense of humor and dedication to pushing boundaries.

Watching this clip, it's clear that Relient K was never going to be just another Christian rock band. They were always on the fringes, experimenting with sounds and styles that set them apart from their peers. And even in a live setting, they refused to play it safe - as evidenced by their bizarre choice of cover songs, which often included pop culture touchstones like The Full House theme.

This clip is also significant because it highlights Relient K's ability to connect with fans on a grassroots level. Despite their growing popularity, the band never lost sight of their DIY ethos - they continued to tour extensively and engage with their audience in a way that felt authentic and raw. Even in this brief, shaky clip, you can sense the energy and camaraderie between the band members and the crowd.

As Relient K's music continues to endure long after their heyday, clips like these serve as a reminder of their innovative spirit and dedication to pushing boundaries. This 23-second snippet may be short on duration, but it's packed with character - a fleeting glimpse into a moment in time that captures the essence of this beloved band.
