Jo-EL Sonnier sings Cajun Born
Today is day 1 of the self quarantine and I’m gonna play you a song and tell you the story behind the song. Today’s song is Cajun Born. I wrote the song almost 50 years ago and it’s been recorded by many artists but Johnny Cash was the first artist to record it and he also let me play accordion on it. He gave me my first big break in country music and I’ll forever be grateful to him for that opportunity.

Jo-El Sonnier was an American singer-songwriter and accordionist who performed country music and Cajun music. Originally signed to Mercury Nashville Records, Sonnier charted several minor singles on the Billboard country charts in the late 1970s. By the late 1980s, he had signed to RCA Records, breaking through with the Top Ten hits "No More One More Time" and a cover of Richard Thompson's "Tear-Stained Letter".
