Up Jumped You With Love - Ralph Sutton and Edmond Hall - On Record and On Stage 1954
This is the second in a series that I am presenting on YouTube that compares 2 performances of the same song by the same or a very similar band in a proximate time frame. However, the first performance is a recorded studio performance while the second is a '"live" performance on stage. This comparison features the Ralph Sutton Quartet with Edmond Hall on clarinet. The only personnel difference between the two versions is in the drum chair with Cliff Leeman in the studio and Charlie Lodice on the stage. The Quartet plays a seldom heard Fats Waller composition titled "Up Jumped You With Love." Which version do you prefer?
About Edmond Hall
Edmond Hall (May 15, 1901 – February 11, 1967) was an American jazz clarinetist and bandleader. Over his career, Hall worked extensively with many leading performers as both a sideman and bandleader and is possibly best known for the 1941 chamber jazz song "Profoundly Blue".
