About Harry Babasin
American jazz bassist and cellist, nicknamed "The Bear" Born March 19, 1921 in Dallas, Texas. Died May 21, 1988 in Los Angeles, California He was (along with Oscar Pettiford) probably the first bassist to record pizzicato jazz cello. he is also well-known for his experimental blends of jazz and Brazilian music.
