It was founded by Tarek Maghary (singer of the heavy metal band Majesty) and Oliver Weinsheimer (editor of the magazine “Rock Hard”) primarily as a festival for fans of the classic metal sound. It takes place at the Lauda-Königshofen, Tauberfrankenhalle. In 2021, Keep It True Rising, a sister festival born out of the corona pandemic, was established. The KIT Rising took place annually in autumn in the Posthalle Würzburg and was similar to the original in concept and musical direction.
