Deliverance/Ride On (1989)

Ride
1980s1989Rareyoutube

This is a song by AC/DC from the 1976 release of "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" I think Mark does a wonderful job singing this one. I hope you enjoy (another one we were just learning at the time).

About Ride

Andrew Piran Bell (born 11 August 1970) is a British musician and songwriter. He is known as the bass guitarist of Oasis and vocalist and guitarist of the shoegaze band Ride. Bell has also been a member of Hurricane #1 and Beady Eye, an offshoot of Oasis which released two studio albums between 2009 and 2014. About This Footage

The clip page "Deliverance/Ride On (1989)" is a fascinating piece of footage that offers a glimpse into the early days of Ride, a pioneering shoegaze band from the United Kingdom. The video itself is tagged as "Rare," which implies that it's a previously unseen or hard-to-find recording.

What makes this clip notable is not just the fact that it features Ride performing two songs, but also the context in which they are playing these tracks. The songs in question, "Deliverance" and "Ride On," are likely covers of AC/DC classics from their 1976 album "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap." This is significant because it highlights the band's eclecticism and willingness to experiment with different styles.

The fact that Ride was performing these songs in 1989 also suggests that they were still finding their footing as a band. Formed just a year prior, in 1988, Ride was already making waves in the UK music scene with their unique blend of dreamy soundscapes and swirling guitars. The shoegaze movement, which they helped pioneer, would go on to influence a generation of bands.

Andrew Piran Bell, Ride's bass guitarist and vocalist, is also worth noting. As a member of Oasis, he brought his own distinct style to the table, but with Ride, he was able to express himself in a more experimental and avant-garde way. His work with Hurricane #1 and Beady Eye further cemented his reputation as a versatile musician.

The YouTube description accompanying this clip is also worth examining. The user who uploaded it seems to be a fan of AC/DC, but their enthusiasm for Mark's (presumably Andrew Piran Bell) vocals on these tracks is endearing. It highlights the power of music to bring people together and transcend genre boundaries.

In terms of historical significance, this clip offers a unique snapshot of Ride in their early days. It's a chance to see them performing live, experimenting with different styles, and finding their voice as a band. For fans of shoegaze and alternative rock, this footage is a must-see. Even for those who are not familiar with the genre, it provides a fascinating glimpse into the creative process of one of the most influential bands of the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The fact that this clip has been tagged as "Rare" only adds to its allure. It's a reminder that there is still much to be discovered in the world of music, even for those who think they know it all. With its blend of live performance, historical significance, and behind-the-scenes insight, this footage is a true gem for anyone interested in the evolution of alternative rock.
