LONG DESCRIPTION In February 1981, Diana Ross was performing “Upside Down” at The Forum in Inglewood, California, when she invited Michael Jackson to join her onstage. Michael came up from the audience, bringing his signature dance moves and playful energy to Ross’s performance. The moment was especially meaningful because the two artists had known each other for years. Diana Ross had been an important figure in Michael’s early career, and they had both starred in the 1978 musical film The Wiz, in which Ross played Dorothy and Jackson played the Scarecrow. Footage from the concert was later included in Ross’s CBS television special Diana, which aired on March 2, 1981. Their spontaneous-looking interaction remains a memorable glimpse of two major Motown-era stars sharing the stage. 🎤 Artists: Diana Ross and Michael Jackson 🎵 Song: “Upside Down” 📍 Venue: The Forum, Inglewood, Los Angeles, California 📅 Performance: February 5, 1981 📺 TV special broadcast: March 2, 1981 4.
