"Casting My Spell On You" is one of those classic songs that has been covered countless times since it's release in 1959. Arguably, the most famous version is by Johnny Otis and it is that version--by way of Imelda May, that inspired this particular cover. Teri "Slik Kitty" and myself decided to record this song back in 2011 after watching the "Jeff Beck Rock 'N Roll Party Honouring Les Paul" DVD featuring Imelda May and her Band. The rapid fire lyrical exchange between Imelda and (then) husband Darryl Higham gave us an exciting challenge! We recorded the song in 2011 but like many of my other songs (and video work) it was lost to multiple hard drive failures. So the project sat aside, until I started revisiting it all again in 2023. I remixed this song and created the video in September & October 2024. I thought it would be fun to make a sort of creepy/fun/scary video to go along with the imagery in the song lyrics. To assist with that idea, I did employ ai for many scenes. But it is mixed with actual footage as well and a great many hours of editing on my ancient desktop! The Dead End Devils was a short lived Rockabilly/Garage/R&R band project from 2010 to 2014. Featuring: Teri "Slik Kitty" Petrillo - Vocals, Shaker, Percussion Kevin "Scratch/King Friday" Renwick - Vocals and Instrumentation Special thanks to the following for any video footage used in this project: Video by cottonbro studio: https://www.pexels.com/video/white-smoke-against-black-background-9694806/ Video by Julius M: https://www.pexels.com/video/a-person-performing-a-witchcraft-ceremony-3133456/ Video by Engin Akyurt: https://www.pexels.com/video/a-skull-with-lighted-tea-candles-1730395/ Video by cottonbro studio: https://www.pexels.com/video/person-putting-a-candie-on-the-skeleton-5435221/ Video by Anastasia Shuraeva: https://www.pexels.com/video/the-flame-of-a-burning-black-candlightle-6014528/ I hope you will enjoy this song & video!
