'Luther and I met through good friend Fonzi Thornton in the late 90s, my production partner Kenny Dope Gonzalez and I (Masters At Work) were asked to co-write and produce a track for Luther's upcoming album. When we met it flowed like butter, we all went in and created a dance track called 'Are You Using Me?' and following this recording we co-wrote and produced another song for the Rosie Perez movie '24 Hour Woman', the song was 'When You're A Woman' and singing lead was Lisa Fischer (who is also a friend). Those are two unforgettable moments in my career, it was like class in session watching Luther work his magic. It was truly an honour to work with the Great Luther Vandross, one I will never forget. Today I've worked on songs never released and heard before 'My Body' being one, and I feel fortunate and privileged to be chosen by Fonzi Thornton, Seveda Williams and Vandross Music LLC, I thank you for believing in me, with love, Louie Vega' On April 13, 2019 Record Day, Vega Records celebrates with the new release 'My Body' performed & recorded by none other than the Legend and King R&B, soul singer Luther Vandross. This is a song that was never released and was recorded back in 1979 by Luther Vandross when he was working on the collossal album 'Never Too Much'. Brought to Louie Vega by artist and renowned background singer to the greats Mr. Fonzi Thornton, Vega was able to work on the immaculate sounds of Vandross. As Vega recalls 'When I put up the tracks in my studio it sounded as if Luther were singing today, it made it so easy to come with the house grooves having such a perfect vocal performance and one of a kind tone. Once I came with the music, I felt I needed to bring in his original background singers, the A-team, which Fonzi organized in a flash. He called upon the genius singers Brenda White King, Lisa Fischer, Cindy Mizelle, Tawatha Agee and of he of course joined the session. We are talking the Dream Team of background singers, altogether in my studio', Vega recalls. 'And what a session it was!'
