THE!!!! BEAT VOL.1 SHOW #1 RECORDED JANUARY 31, 1966 6. LITTLE MILTON - BLIND MAN BORN MILTON CAMPBELL IN INVERNESS, MISSISSIPPI IN 1934, HE WAS ONE OF THE MANY BLUES MEN DISCOVERED BY IKE TURNER IN THE 1950'S. HE WAS SINGING AND PLAYING GUITAR WITH IKE TURNER'S KINGS OF RHYTHM IN 1953 WHEN HE BEGAN HIS RECORDING CAREER WITH SUN RECORDS IN MEMPHIS. HE RECORDED FOUR RECORDS FOR THEM BETWEEN 1953 AND 1954. THEN BRIEFLY FOR METEOR RECORDS IN 1957 BEFORE SIGNING WITH BOBBIN RECORDS OF ST. LOUIS IN 1958. 1961 SAW MILTON'S CAREER TAKE A HUGE UPWARD JOLT WHEN HE SIGNED WITH CHESS (CHICAGO). HE HAD A TEN YEAR STRING OF R&B HITS ON THEIR CHECKER SUBSIDIARY BETWEEN 1961 AND 1970. AFTER THE SALE OF CHESS AND THE DEATH OF LEONARD CHESS, MILTON HEADED BACK TO MEMPHIS AND SIGNED WITH STAX IN 1971, WHERE HE HAD A HUGE R&B HIT WITH .WALKIN' THE BACKSTREETS AND CRYIN (1974) BUT STAX WAS IN SERIOUS FINANCIAL TROUBLE AND FOLDED IN THE MID SEVENTIES. MILTON THEN WENT ON TO RECORD FOR A SMALL INDEPENDANT GLADE AND GOLDEN EAR LABEL BEFORE SIGNING WITH MALACO RECORDS IN 1984.

James Milton Campbell Jr., better known as Little Milton, was an American blues singer and guitarist, best known for his number-one R&B single "We're Gonna Make It". His other hits include "Baby, I Love You", "Who's Cheating Who?", and "Grits Ain't Groceries ".
