Since we met again a week ago at the Limestone City Blues Festival in Kingston, I had a feeling he would be out to see us. By this point he had seen us several times in Kingston and Ottawa, and has played our music on his (Internationally Syndicated) radio show, the House of Blues Radio Hour. I even have a clip from three years ago on our website of Little Charlie Baty and Elwood discussing an up and coming Canadian… pretty cool! Sure enough, we had the opportunity to open our last set with Aykroyd (Elwood Blues) singing Killing Floor, then later in the set he came back up to do “Born in Chicago”. We had a blast on stage, and the crowd went wild getting photos with their cell phones held high!!! I said the same thing to Dan on the break – this is what blues needs!!! We need people with wide spread recognition and power to promote blues music. It’s great for people within the industry to promote this music, but it’s even more wide spread when it’s done by a celebrity that is known by all types of music lovers. Bruce Willis is a blues harmonica player, but though Dan said he does speak highly of the music, I personally haven’t heard of him promoting it etc. Aykroyd mentioned “you should come down south to do some shows with us”, and I am assuming he means with Belushi and him… that would be very cool! Only time till tell!!! He is on a “mission from god” to support this music, and not just that, but to support fellow Canadians!!! It’s a beautiful thing! So a big thanks to Dan Aykroyd for going out of his way to do this for all of us is in order!!! * * * * * Here are some of the artists that are friends and/or influences of ours.
