【Melodic Rock/AOR】Michael Furlong - Thru My Eyes 1987~Emily's collection
【Pls look at the top comment first】Speaking of Michael Furlong, he has been recognized as the unmistakable premier Tribute to Tom Petty. Since 1990, Michael Furlong has been performing his "Petty Theft" show coast to coast across the US in Fairs, Festivals and Casino Show Rooms. In the 1980s, the years saw the booming of hard/melodic rock, Michael Furlong recorded two studio albums, which were underrated and brilliant but, for hard/melodic rock fans, his solo albums are marvels, including epic singles as blessings for every delicate ear. In 1984, Michael Furlong recorded his solo debut "Use It Or Lose It", released by Atlantic Records. This is a well-received album, which opened up his solo career and made his name known and spread. He played roles on lead vocals and lead guitars. His performances lit up the stage and triggered every heart to keep rocking. The flaming debut theme title song "Use It Or Lose It", featuring a promo video has become many fans' primary impresssion that Michael Furlong left on screen. Produced by Rick Keefer, Michael Furlong's original debut "Use It Or Lose It" let the hard/melodic rock world hear his music and see his talent. We can feel the hard rock side of Michael Furlong. We can also catch the gentle side which Michael Furlong showed in the second album. In 1987, Michael Furlong put out his second studio album, entitled "Breakaway" and released by UK label Music For Nations. Musically, the second album absolutely features the very bright and decent aor style, so we can touch the different side of Michal Furlong who put deep emotion in mainstream aor. Rick Keefer continued producing this album for Michael Furlong. The album "Breakaway" is totally a solo album by Michael Furlong. He played all the roles on recording (vocals, guitars, bass, drums and synthesizers) with some guest musicians on backing vocals and additional instruments while the 1984 debut was recorded by Michael Furlong and his bandmates. As we know, Michael Furlong is also known for his hoarse voice, whose singing carries a sense of vicissitude. He can perfectly deal with hard rock and aor. Hearing his rock gems as if he is like a motivator. Hering his ballads as if he is like a storyteller. The songs from "Breakaway" are filled with passion and emotion, carrying hooks on each track. The album "Breakaway" contains three singles, which were separately released in 1988 on EP. The songs from the second album are gentler than those from the debut, which can remind us of the works from Eddie Money, Gregg Rolie and Steve Perry. The rocking gems can remind me of the songs from Benny Mardones's 1989 ST solo album. Although his second album got different critical voices, which didn't spread very widely, musically, these songs are melodious, carrying 1980s dreams. When the opening track "Turn The World Around" starts, who can resist the gream charm from the tunes? In the following works, highlights continue coming out and shining. Breakaway is the last solo album by Michael Furlong. In the same year 1987, he also sang in 1980s heavy metal band Wild Dogs's third album "Reign Of Terror" as the lead vocalist, who also co-wrote all the songs for Wild Dogs' 1987 album. His singing in Wild Dogs features absolute metal taste, killing, flaming and powerful, making a sharp contrast with his singing in "Breakaway". This soulful ballad is 7th track "Thru My Eyes", a romantic work which absolutely features Micchael Furlong's gentle side. Close your eyes and let the song bring sunshine to the hearts and carry pleasant moments for whoever is in love. Michael Furlong's distinctive voice makes the song filled with warm and deep emotion, very touching. The vibrant gems "Turn The World Around", "Steal The Night Away", "Walkin' The Streets Again", "Breakaway" and "You Better Watch Your Step", and the emotional ballads "Savin' the Best for You" and this song "Thru My Eyes" are highly recommended, which can become the reasons for every melodic rock fan fall in love with this underrated album. Since the 1990s, Michael Furlong has become a session musician and kept on stage. His only two solo albums are very precious for whoever wants to have a complete understanding of his great talent as an all-around musician. There is a Honolulu icon on his T-shirt on the album cover, because this album was made at Sea-West Recording Studios, located in Honolulu, Hawaii and owned by Rick Keefer and Donna-Alexa Keefer. Michael Furlong's tributes also contain Summer Of '69 Tribute to Bryan Adams, Drive a Tribute to The Cars, and Travelin' Band a Tribute to Creedence Clearwater Revival. #MelodicRock #aor #MichaelFurlong
