Snarky Puppy - Lingus ft. Cory Henry | Denton, TX

The Band

Support the band: http://snarkypuppy.com One of the most epic piano features. This time around, it was Cory Henry with an incredible solo with some really cool keyboard patches and beautiful chords on the rhodes. Also a really cool section where the horns are trading. Along with Chris, & Maz, special guest Clay Pritchard was up there trading with them. Sorry it isn't studio quality audio... just had to use the mic on my camera. In the words of Michael League, this is some "fake ass dubstep"

About This Footage

The latest addition to our archive is a rare and captivating performance by Snarky Puppy, one of the most innovative and dynamic ensembles in modern jazz. The clip, titled "Lingus ft. Cory Henry | Denton, TX," clocks in at 13:26 minutes and features an extended piano solo by Cory Henry, accompanied by the band's signature horn section.

What makes this footage particularly noteworthy is the exceptional musicianship on display. Cory Henry's solo is a masterclass in melodic phrasing, tone color, and harmonic sophistication. His use of keyboard patches and Rhodes chords adds a unique texture to the performance, elevating it beyond mere jazz improvisation. The trading section between Henry, Chris, Maz, and special guest Clay Pritchard is equally impressive, showcasing the band's ability to blend individual virtuosity with collective cohesion.

The clip also provides a fascinating glimpse into Snarky Puppy's creative process and musical philosophy. As Michael League quips in the video description, "this is some 'fake ass dubstep'." While this tongue-in-cheek remark might be intended as a humorous aside, it speaks to the band's willingness to blend disparate styles and push boundaries in their music. Snarky Puppy has always been known for their eclecticism and genre-bending approach, which has earned them a devoted following among fans of jazz, rock, and electronic music.

The fact that this footage is tagged as "Studio" and "Rare" adds an extra layer of significance to the clip. Studio performances often provide a unique opportunity for musicians to explore new ideas and experiment with different sounds, and in this case, the band's willingness to take risks and try something new is evident throughout the performance.

While the audio quality may not be studio-grade – as the uploader notes, it was captured using a camera microphone – the visual aspect of the clip provides an intimate and immersive experience for viewers. The close-up shots of Cory Henry's fingers dancing across the keyboard, combined with the dynamic interplay between the horn section and piano, create a sense of immediacy and presence that draws the viewer into the performance.

Overall, this clip is a must-watch for fans of Snarky Puppy and anyone interested in exploring the boundaries of modern jazz. The exceptional musicianship, creative experimentation, and willingness to blend styles make it a truly unique and captivating experience.
