Teaser announcing Nacho’s Videos participation at the David Bowie World Fan Convention, which takes place in Liverpool 17 – 19 June 2022. Video clip features an excerpt from a forthcoming Nacho production | David Bowie Live at Earls Court, London 1978. • The David Bowie World Fan Convention “We’re delighted that Nacho joins us at #BowieConvention2022 to present highlights from his timeless archive! Few have captured the magic of David Bowie quite like him”. Coming to venues across Liverpool 17-19 June 2022, an all-star line-up of David Bowie’s closest friends and collaborators, including: guitarist and bandleader for 3 decades, Carlos Alomar; bass-player and vocalist from 1995 to 2016, Gail Ann Dorsey; legendary drummer and last surviving Spider from Mars, Woody Woodmansey; unmistakable vocal powerhouse, Robin Clark; and the last musician to play with Bowie, saxophonist Donny McCaslin. Revered for his visuals as much as his music, the event also sees exhibitions and talks from an array of photographers and designers who helped craft Bowie’s iconic imagery, as the convention brings the works and insights of The Duffy Archive, Brian Aris, Denis O’Regan, Philippe Auliac and Jonathan Barnbrook together for the first time. Situated at the heart of the weekend, Bowie Ball will be a vibrant, chameleonic celebration of self expression, with all ticket holders encouraged to spare no modesty or make-up and bring their favourite era of Bowie to Liverpool’s Saturday night streets. The weekend will be packed with live performances of fan-favourites, classic albums and renditions of seldom heard rarities, alongside special guest appearances from artists indebted in their influence to Bowie. Final few tickets left. Please purchase at https://bowieconvention.com/ • David Bowie’s Isolar II 1978 World Tour, also known as The Low / “Heroes” World Tour or The Stage Tour, opened on the 29th of March, 1978 at the San Diego Sports Arena. The tour continued through North America, Europe and Australia and New Zealand before reaching a conclusion at the NHK Hall in Tokyo, on the 12th of December, 1978. Eighty dates were played, with a total attendance of almost 1.2 million people. The tour came to London’s Earls Court Arena, on the 29th & 30th of June and the 1st of July, 1978. The never-completed and never-shown David Hemmings-directed STAGE movie, was shot at the last two Earls Court shows. Apparently the forty year old undigitised reels for the STAGE movie, are to this day gathering dust at the Bowie archive. The STAGE movie is perhaps the ultimate lost treasure of the Bowie cannon. For decades it’s been the subject of much speculation among fans, who are desperate to see it. In the absence of the STAGE movie, Nacho has been gathering material for many years, meticulously editing it into a coherent document of the shows and their legacy. Here's a tiny fragment of those editing experiments – footage from Earls Court and elsewhere, cut to the spectacular version of Beauty and the Beast, recorded live at Earls Court on June 30th, from the posthumous live album released in 2018, Welcome to the Blackout. Thanks for watching, hope you dig it! • Musicians: David Bowie | Vocals Dennis Davis | Drums Carlos Alomar | Rhythm guitar, backing vocals George Murray | Bass Adrian Belew | Lead guitar Simon House | Violin Sean Mayes | Piano, string ensemble, backing vocals Roger Powell | Synthesizer, keyboards, backing vocals Audio: David Bowie | Beauty and the Beast from Welcome to the Blackout | Recorded June 30th, 1978 | Produced by David Bowie | Mixed by David Bowie and David Richards, January 17th - 22nd, 1979 | Original recording made by Tony Visconti Video: Earls Court, London | July 30th 1978 | From the LWT TV David Bowie Special | Audience shot Super8 Wiener Stadthalle | Wien, Austria | 22 May 1978 | Audience shot Super8 NHK Hall | Tokyo | 12 December 1978 Bowie interview with Alan Yentob | 19 May 1978 | Hilton Hotel | Cologne, Germany | From Arena Rock | BBC Broadcast Archive • Always more videos to follow, so please keep your electric eye on me babe!
