QPL’s Culture Connection is thrilled to host a book talk with singer and model Ava Cherry, celebrating the release of her new memoir “All That Glitters: The Ava Cherry Story”! Ms. Cherry was raised in Chicago and grew up loving Motown, Aretha Franklin, and Gladys Knight, but a four-year stint with rock star David Bowie would forever change her musical direction. In the 1970s, as part of a backing trio with Robin Clark and Luther Vandross, she performed on stage and in the studio with Bowie, appearing on some of his most acclaimed albums, notably “Young Americans.” Cherry and Bowie were lovers as well, and remained friends after their relationship ended. This program will be moderated by Brian Alessandro.
