There are probably more, but I don't remember them. In this 1950 tongue twister, #TexRitter tells us about a cowboy auctioneer. This was written by #JoeTaylor, another guy who didn't have too many notches in the songwriting belt. This song reminds me of my late Uncle Troy who was an auctioneer. I was always fascinated by his auctioneering abilities. He was a fan of the Leroy Van Dyke song, so much so that when we visited Nashville in the mid-80's, he bought a record with “The Auctioneer” on it without even having a record player. He sent it home with me (I was not even a teenager yet) with specific instructions to make him a cassette tape full of nothing but “The Auctioneer!” You'll notice that my musical tastes run all over the place.
