He's a Cowboy Auctioneer ~ Tex Ritter (1950)

Please consider supporting my work: paypal.me/HankfanHankfan I can't think of too many auction based songs, even in country music. “The Auctioneer” by Leroy Van Dyke comes to mind as does “Sold” by John Michael Montgomery. There are probably more, but I don't remember them. In this 1950 tongue twister, #TexRitter tells us about a cowboy auctioneer. This was written by #JoeTaylor, another guy who didn't have too many notches in the songwriting belt. This song reminds me of my late Uncle Troy who was an auctioneer. I was always fascinated by his auctioneering abilities. He was a fan of the Leroy Van Dyke song, so much so that when we visited Nashville in the mid-80's, he bought a record with “The Auctioneer” on it without even having a record player. He sent it home with me (I was not even a teenager yet) with specific instructions to make him a cassette tape full of nothing but “The Auctioneer!” You'll notice that my musical tastes run all over the place. If I'm not posting your favorite genre, give it time and I'm sure I'll get to it as long as it isn't rap, opera, or new "country!" Please hit the "like" button, subscribe, and share to your favorite social media sites! I appreciate those who have contributed and look forward to bringing more music your way. There's no copyright infringement intended. If there's ever a problem, I'm happy to remove any video. God bless ya!
