Originally recorded by Eric Idle & Neil Innes for the BBC television programme "Rutland Weekend Television", and later included on "The Rutland Weekend Television Songbook" 1976 soundtrack LP (UK BBC REB 223 / US Passport PPSD 98108). Fairport Convention performed "The Accountancy Shanty" live at their concert at City Hall, Hull, England on 12 February 1989. it was included on their four-disc compilation "Fairport unConventional" (Free Reed FRQCD 35) issued on May 2002. Fairport Convention are an English folk rock band, formed in 1967 by guitarists Richard Thompson and Simon Nicol, bassist Ashley Hutchings and drummer Shaun Frater.
