In this awesome short clip, we get to see the inner workings of Genesis (with touring guitarist Daryl Stuermer) in 2007 in a hotel room in New York — working out the Genesis song, “Ripples.” Which melodically, among other attributes, is an amazingly beautiful song. Phil’s voice is magical in this clip. Magical. I love to hear him hum the melody when he doesn’t remember the words. Something that amazes me about musicians and singers (especially someone like Phil who is truly gifted) is how effortless they make it seem. I mean these guys are sitting around in a hotel room and make that kind of music!? Incredible. And then, in the little clip at the end, it’s hysterical to see the banter between them… a little fly on the wall moment…
