TSOL - Superficial Love (Fan Video by Atomic) On February 1, 1983, TSOL played a Tuesday noon concert at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, California. There was a lot of hype surrounding the show because of TSOL's punk rock reputation and the media's obsession with "violence" that they imagined happened at every show. There were a lot of students and other curious onlookers there to see what they thought was going to be a spectacle, but only a small pit broke out during a few of the band's faster songs and there were no injuries or violence. Somehow, the next day in the newspaper the article read, "Dancing Prohibited at Tuesday Noon Concerts" with a photo showing about 12 kids bouncing off each other and the caption below it said "The Slam Starts Riot"... Anything to sell papers. I remember being there and thinking, "This is the tamest punk show I've ever been to". This song, Superficial Love, was one of the fastest ones TSOL played that day and you can see from the band and the crowd that there was nothing looking like a riot. You can even see Jack joking with a friend running on to the stage at the end of the song. Unfortunately, the sound quality for the video was not very good, so I set the video portion to a digital audio track and let the original audio run at a low volume in the background so you can still get a sense of what was going on live...
