Favorite Video Round-Up Ep34pt1 KASR VIDEO

Possum Dixon
Rareyoutube

Greg Mickey, Mike and Bobby Diablo host this BEST of the VIDEO WEST! Where they round- up some of thier favorite videos for the last 34 shows! Featuring: Rage Against The Machine in the number one slot! Followed by Possum Dixon, Ugly Kid Joe and Sister Red! "Don't expect a lot from this show." Was the unofficial motto of KASR VIDEO which was a weekly 2 hour public access offshoot of the Arizona State University's original alternative radio station that aired in Phoenix. The music video show featured rarely seen videos and "new" music not in the "main stream." Along with non-conventional interviews it became a decent way to nurse a hangover with the midnight party crowd. These clips are edited as a sort of best of; minus the music videos. About Possum Dixon

Possum Dixon was an American rock band, which existed between 1989 and 1999. Fronted by singer-songwriter and bassist Rob Zabrecky, the group's neo-new wave pop and post punk style first appeared among a string of early independently released 7 inch singles and on their self-titled debut on Interscope Records in 1993. Zabrecky's lyrical content often described love lost and slacker life in Los Angeles.

About This Footage

The Possum Dixon footage in "Favorite Video Round-Up Ep34pt1 KASR VIDEO" is a rare and intriguing find, offering a glimpse into the lesser-known world of alternative television from the early 1990s. This clip, part of a larger collection of videos edited down for this specific episode, features Possum Dixon as one of the highlighted acts.

As a band that emerged in the late 1980s, Possum Dixon was part of the neo-new wave and post-punk revival movement, which sought to revive the energy and experimentation of earlier punk bands. With their blend of catchy hooks and introspective lyrics, they carved out a niche for themselves among fans of alternative rock. Rob Zabrecky's distinctive vocals and songwriting style added an extra layer of depth to their music.

The KASR VIDEO show itself is notable for its offbeat charm and irreverent attitude. As a public access program that aired on Arizona State University's original alternative radio station, it catered to the midnight party crowd with its unconventional approach to music videos and interviews. The hosts' dry wit and sarcastic remarks add to the show's quirky appeal.

The inclusion of Possum Dixon in this episode is particularly interesting, given their relatively low profile compared to some of the other acts featured. Rage Against The Machine takes the top spot, followed by Ugly Kid Joe and Sister Red, but Possum Dixon still manages to hold its own among these more established names.

This footage serves as a reminder that even in the early 1990s, alternative rock was already fragmenting into various sub-genres and styles. Bands like Possum Dixon were pushing the boundaries of what was considered "mainstream," experimenting with sounds and themes that would later influence a wider range of artists.

The KASR VIDEO show's focus on lesser-known videos and new music not in the mainstream adds to its value as a historical document. These clips provide a unique window into the underground music scene, where artists were free to explore and innovate without the constraints of commercial pressure.

In this context, Possum Dixon's appearance in "Favorite Video Round-Up Ep34pt1 KASR VIDEO" takes on added significance. It highlights their place within the larger alternative rock movement, as well as their ability to coexist alongside more prominent acts like Rage Against The Machine and Ugly Kid Joe.
