I Recreated Revolver's Greatest Lost Recording.
I absolutely loved putting this together! If you love these Beatles reconstructions and want to support the channel, tip jar donations can be made here: https://paypal.me/MichaelSokil After a run of interviews, deep dives, and detective work, I felt like spending a few days doing what got me into all this in the first place: recreating an amazing Beatles recording. Not every Beatles mystery requires a documentary. Sometimes the music speaks for itself. Some notes: - Yes, those are stereo separated vocals! For the first time on YouTube, I believe. I used MVSEP and LALAL.AI to separate all three harmonies from the mono track into true stereo. Don't they sound incredible? - John is *probably* using the (butt ugly) Gretsch 6120, but it's hard to tell from the sound. Session photos that week show the 6120, and it sounds Gretsch-like. Major thanks to GTE founder Ryan Martin for lending me his 6120 - it's vintage! - Paul's bassline ranks among his best - it's such a shame this was never broadly released. I used my 2018 4003 Rickenbacker on the neck pickup, no mutes activated. Love that riff at the end! - I used TWO pedals on this reconstruction - getting fancy! I used the Boss Compressor on the Rickenbacker 12-string and the Aclam Go Rocky Go on the dueling lead guitars, which I played on my "Inspired By John Lennon" Epiphone Casino. I demo'd the SG for the lower octave but went with the Casino, if only because my Casino stays in tune much better! - Ringo's drums are so fun, and SO compressed. I used the Abbey Road RS124 Compressor plug-in on the hi-hat, snare, AND the entire drum track. It's astonishing how squished his drums are on this one! I also hope you guys don't mind - I took two liberties. First, I undampened Ringo's snare (it sounds like a tea towel is draping the snare on the actual track). I'm too in love with the snap of the 5.5" Jazz Festival to dampen that thing! Second, I added a proper ending! You guys are fantastic - thank you for supporting this journey. Best side-hustle passion project on earth. See you soon for all kids of new stuff! -Mike
