About This Footage

The clip "Jimmy Rogers ~ 'Blue And Lonesome' (Modern Electric Chicago Blues 1995)" is a rare gem that offers a glimpse into the later years of Jimmy Rogers' illustrious career. Recorded in 1995, this footage captures the artist's continued mastery of the Chicago blues genre, which he helped shape and define.

One of the most striking aspects of this clip is the presence of Rod Piazza on harmonica. As a respected musician in his own right, Piazza brings an added layer of depth to Rogers' performance. The interplay between the two musicians is a testament to their chemistry and experience working together. Unfortunately, without more information about the specific recording session or context, we can only speculate about the circumstances surrounding this collaboration.

Jimmy Rogers was an integral part of the Chicago blues scene in the 1950s, serving as a key member of Muddy Waters' band. His solo career was marked by hits like "That's All Right", "Chicago Bound", and "Walking by Myself". However, after withdrawing from the music industry at the end of the 1950s, Rogers returned to recording and touring in the 1970s. This footage suggests that even in his later years, Rogers remained committed to his craft.

The clip itself is a four-minute and thirty-three-second performance of "Blue And Lonesome", a song that showcases Rogers' signature blend of electric guitar playing and soulful vocals. While we can't fully appreciate the nuances of this performance without more context, it's clear that Rogers was still delivering high-quality music in 1995.

What makes this footage truly notable is its rarity. As indicated by the "Rare" tag attached to the clip, this is likely one of a limited number of recordings featuring Jimmy Rogers from this period. For fans and scholars of Chicago blues, this footage offers a unique opportunity to study Rogers' later work and gain insight into his continued evolution as an artist.

The YouTube description provides some context about the ownership and usage rights for the footage. The uploader has taken care to acknowledge the original creators' rights and provide a clear disclaimer regarding copyright infringement. This attention to detail is commendable, especially given the complexities surrounding music ownership and licensing.

In summary, this clip of Jimmy Rogers performing "Blue And Lonesome" in 1995 is an important addition to any collection of rare blues footage. While we may not have all the answers about the circumstances surrounding this recording, it's clear that Rogers was still a force to be reckoned with in his later years.
