NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Charger 107) Recorded at Gold Star Recording Studios in March 1965, this soulfully atmospheric track produced by Fred Darian would become the flip side to Dobie Gray's Charger single, 'See You At The Go-Go' and also be included on the 'Dobie Gray Sings For In Crowders' LP. Engineered by Larry Levine with the flawless musical talents of L.A.'s 'Wrecking Crew', the multi-track master tape reel and two other Dobie Gray tape reels were discovered in New York in October 2019. They were from the estate of 1960's L.A. record executive and owner of Thunderbird Records, Steve Brodie. On this recording, it is addition of strings on the 2nd track, take 1 of 'Walk With Love'. Sounding crystal clear with the mesmerizing reverberation of the Gold Star echo chamber, the 54 year old Scotch recording tape sounds as impressive as if it were recorded yesterday. A big thank you to engineer, Len Horowitz, at History of Recorded Sound in Culver City, California for performing the analog to digital transfer.
Dobie Gray (born Lawrence Darrow Brown; July 26, 1940 – December 6, 2011) was an American singer and songwriter. Gray's music spanned multiple genres, including soul, country, pop, and musical theater. His hit songs included "The 'In' Crowd" in 1965 and "Drift Away" (a cover of a song written by Mentor Williams).
