Sammy Hagar and the rest of Van Halen parted ways in 1996. In 2004, The Red Rocker and Van Halen decided to give it another, announcing a tour, and heading out on the road together for the first time in almost a decade. The tour sold well, but reviews were mixed. Eddie Van Halen was going through a rough time. He and Valerie Bertinelli, his wife and mother of his son Wolfgang, had separated a few years earlier, and Eddie was dealing with depression and substance abuse. About Sammy Hagar

Samuel Roy Hagar (born October 13, 1947), also known as the Red Rocker, is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He rose to prominence in the early 1970s with the hard rock band Montrose before launching a successful solo career, scoring a hit in 1984 with "I Can't Drive 55".
