Dixon Reunion 6
This is a record of an episode of Dixon of Dock Green. It is one of two tapes made and sent to me by a friend at the BBC before the tapes were wiped. Many years ago, the BBC wiped the tapes of it's popular shows for financial and storage reasons. Recently I found that the tapes had degraded badly and decided to post them in an effort to preserve them as an historical record. It is interesting to note that when this show was made, it was impossible to stop the videotape machines. The show was shot in sequence on the studio floor with 16mm film cued up in telecine for the exterior shots. Any bad mistakes had to be cut out with a razor blade after the fact, and, for this reason the BBC did not look kindly on actors that fluffed lines, or missed marks. Stephen Marsh ( Harry Dunne)

Dixon of Dock Green is a BBC police procedural television series about daily life at a fictional London police station, with the emphasis on petty crime, successfully controlled through common sense and human understanding. It ran from 1955 to 1976. The central character, George Dixon, first appeared in the film The Blue Lamp (1950).
