But heavy NS demand is this there, and begging for a copy. So we are more than pleased today, to be able to offer a miraculously perfect, previously unplayed archive copy. Produced by Richie Barrett, a renowned Philadelphian "mover & shaker", that once he moved into "The Big Apple" scene became the "Mover & Shaker", a catalyst for discovering, producing, local talent. Like Arlene Smith, The Chantels, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers etc. mentoring some of the biggest vocal groups on the east coast. Along with Richard, Bea Junior and Leonard Hodes formed the respected "Spectorious" production team. The group "The Squires" on this disc, we suspect are actually "black" vocals made up of Brooklyn based, Kenny Seymour (Lead and Baritone), Steve Liebowitz (Tenor & Baritone), Horace Brooks (Tenor), Robert Baber (Bass), Helen Powell (Tenor) later morphing into Kenny and The Impacts on DCP. NOT the documented white guys Peter Baralt, Garry Bonner, Bob Friedman, Arnie Magraner. There has always been confusion of who the actual artist was...We are saying this for those colour prejudice NS DJ/collectors who have always been told they are a white group. They certainly don't sound white, rich harmonies are so very seamlessly "black" sounding. Acquiring a 62 year old MINT previously unplayed copy, in 2024 is one challenging task.
