OTIS GRAND BLUES FROM THE HEART A blues music documentary featuring a performance from guitarist Otis Grand recorded at The Fuggle and Firkin, Oxford, England on 23rd February 1998. The third in a series of contemporary blues video recordings from the 1990’s. Otis Grand is an uncompromising blues guitar player. He created a sensation when he blasted onto the English scene in the 1980’s with Otis Grand and The Dance Kings becoming, almost overnight, the dominant figure on the British blues scene. The best player with the best band and a musician who was most truly ‘immersed’ in the music. That’s because he grew up in the San Francisco Bay area surrounded by the music and its players. Otis Grand’s career has now included a slew of highly acclaimed albums, a constant touring and festival schedule and some of the most important collaborations in the studio of the last 25 years. This live set was recorded at a regular gig in a regular town in England but it’s truly a world-class performance. It captures Otis and his then regular band and singer, Brother Roy Oakley, performing as if they were at the most important gig of their lives. The performance is the real deal - real, tough blues played by a master. Paul Reed and his dedicated team at Blues Archive have created a visual record of what was a really ‘jumping’ scene in England in the mid to late 1990’s. It’s a little piece of blues history and great fun to watch and enjoy. JOHN STEDMAN – JSP RECORDS DIRECTED AND PRODUCED BY PAUL REED – BLUES ARCHIVE Available from Amazon Prime Video.
