The Offspring - February 27, 1988 - Grange Hall, San Bernardino, CA (READ DESCRIPTION!!)

The actual date and location of this show may have been revealed by The Offspring themselves! They talk about (and show part of) the recording this show was taken from, and show a flyer from the show on episode 7 of Time to Relax w/ The Offspring (link below). While Dexter and Noodles are confused about the date, thinking it was 1986 or 1987, the flyer shows "February 27, 1988" and Noodles says "that's definitely the venue, that's definitely the gig" so I'm taking that as evidence of the date and venue. I downloaded it from an Offspring fan site years ago. Since then, it seems that the site has disappeared, but I luckily still had the .vob file saved on an old hard drive. I deinterlaced the video and upscaled it to 1440p for YouTube. Because of how YouTube now handles video, only 1440p and higher resolutions will have all "SD" resolution options (144p, 240p, 360p, 480p) available. This allows for maximum viewing flexibility-- 1080p and lower now only offer 144p and 360p. I also found a copy on YouTube with the first few seconds intact. I upscaled it to 1440p and interpolated it from 25 to 50 fps (unfortunately it got converted to PAL somewhere in its history...) and stitched the missing bit to the beginning. According to their 1986 demo tapes, with titles hand-written by Bryan himself, these are the correct titles: www (dot) discogs (dot) com /release/7156644-The-Offspring-7-songs Tehran sounds like it may be called something different, but I can't tell what was said. (It sounds to me like James Lilja introduces it as something like "Cairo" or "Pyro") I know this version has been called "Iran" by fans, but I don't hear that in either what James says or in the song itself. If anyone knows for sure, please let me know! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Finally, I would like to apologize for all the extremely low quality black and white versions of this concert that are up here. I think most of them used a capture I made (anything with "punKmetaLheaD" in it-- that was an old username of mine) of a terrible VHS copy I got of this concert close to 20-25 years ago. Back then, all there really was available was an even lower quality real media version of I'll Be Waiting, so I thought my copy (of a copy of a copy of a copy etc. etc.) would be an "upgrade" 🤷 Hopefully this version makes up for that.
