About This Footage

In the sweltering summer of 2023, a rare gem emerged from the underground rock scene. "Funkentology Live From Gold Diggers" is an official video that captures BLK ODYSSY's electrifying performance at the iconic Gold Diggers venue in Los Angeles. This clip is more than just a live recording – it's a snapshot of the band's raw energy and artistic vision.

At the time, BLK ODYSSY was still finding its footing as a duo. Formed by sisters Nyrobi and Chaya Becket-Messam in 2020, they were part of the British rock scene, but their sound was already veering off the beaten path. Their debut album, Rave Immortal, released two years later on Earache Records, would cement their reputation as boundary-pushing artists.

What makes this clip so significant is its rarity. Live performances are often ephemeral experiences, lost to the annals of time unless captured on film or tape. "Funkentology" is a testament to the enduring power of live music, where the connection between artist and audience is palpable. The video's 8:05 runtime may seem brief, but it's enough to convey the intensity and passion that defines BLK ODYSSY's live shows.
