Nina and Ariel Review - Very Rare Comic Book from Ed Benes
Nina and Ariel, limited to 1000 copies for the main cover and 200 copies for the black and white artist's edition, might just be one of the rarest comics I have ever bought. And it might also be the most expensive single issue I have ever purchased, at a cost of $25 for the previously mentioned B&W version. So was it worth the price? This video reviews the first self-published creator-owned comic book from artist Ed Benes, perhaps best known to superhero fans for his work on Birds of Prey and Justice League for DC Comics. I also compare the success of Nina and Ariel to some of the other Kickstarter and Indiegogo comic book campaigns that have popped up in recent years, including Patriotika, Jawbreakers, Cyberfrog, and Brigade. This video features footage of some Nina and Ariel fan art, referenced from an illustration by series creator Ed Benes. Drawing with mechanical 0.5 mm Kuru Toga mechanical pencil, colored with Copics, inked with Hunt 102 nib and Speedball Super Black India Ink, also Micron archival ink pens (0.05-0.3 mm). Drawing on Blue Line Pro Comic Art board (BL1001), recording done with Apple iPhone X in Full HD 30fps. Edited in Sharefactory at 720p.
