Three years after the Four Tops track had been released, Jimmy put pen to paper for another Motown act, namely, the Supremes. By now, Diana Ross had left the group, and the line-up featured Cindy Birdsong, Jean Terrell and Lynda Laurence. This self titled album was very nearly a complete Jimmy Webb vehicle. The song 'When Can Brown Begin' became something of a civil rights song, showcased by this heartfelt plea from the women. The album sleeve has several images of Jim working with the group, a set which suffered from not having a pop hit, however, the passing of the years have seen this set really come into it's own. 'When Can Brown Begin' has been recorded by the likes of Jimmy Helms, Glen Campbell and Scott Walker. One of my favourite songs by a group, which really came into it's own, following the departure of Diana Ross.
