Recorded March 13, 1952 (Thursday) (w&m: Lloyd Price) Fats 1st recording from his 9th session. a-side of Specialty 661 b/w "Mailman Blues". 45RPM release: March 1959. First album release: unknown J and M Studio, 838 North Rampart St., New Orleans, LA Lloyd Price(v), Dave Bartholomew(tp), Joe Harris(as), Herb Hardesty(ts), Fats Domino(p), Ernest McLean(g), Frank Fields(b), Earl Palmer(d), unk. (chorus overdubs) Producer/Arranger: Dave Bartholomew Engineer: Cosimo Matassa The vocal overdubs were done early 1959. The reason was that his ABC-Paramount releases were hugely succesful on the charts. To cash in on the trend (recordings with (fe-)male backup), Art Rupe thought he would hit again with this release; it did not. There is another version recorded by Lloyd on the same day (take 1, released on Specialty CD-2168, but it's almost certain that Salvador Doucette takes the piano part. Dave was not satisfied with his playing and asked Fats to join at the session). Unfortunately no recording available. Please contact if you do! About Lloyd Price

Lloyd Price was an American R&B and rock and roll singer known as "Mr. Personality" after his 1959 million-selling hit, "Personality". His first recording, "Lawdy Miss Clawdy", was a hit for Specialty Records in 1952. He continued to release records, but none were as popular until several years later, when he refined the New Orleans beat and achieved a series of national hits. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998.
