Performing with "Rappers Rapp Group" & "The Future MC's" ..I Remember It was Nov 9th, 1981 The Gap Band Had Just wrapped up Their Recording Session as we entered KSR Recording Studio On Hollywood & Vine St. for ours. This was to be our First Record & we were Lucky enough to be the West's Coasts very First Rapp Group ( we came behind the Rap Duo Disco Daddy & Capt. Rapp.) The Studio Mgr. told Our Producer "Duffy Hooks" that his guitar Player called & said he couldn't make it in tonight... So Duffy pleaded with The Gap Bands Guitar Player if He wouldn't mind sticking around and lay down some rhythm tracks for us. "No Problem " he said " Let's hear what you got "Duff" - while the Tape rolled they Agreed on $75 and he would Play till "Early In The Morning" if he had to . ( jk ) Duffy Hooks was on a tight budget . We only had 4 hours *8pm until Midnight to complete the Record - Everything - Record it - Mix it & Master it. Why? because The next Morning Big Duff was to get Stampers Made then Go to his Mfg. Bill Smith Custom Pressing In El Segundo. We had The 12" vinyl in our hands by the end of the week. So for $75 we had the Official "Gap Band" guitar on our first Record. Can you Believe That. Over the next 2 years 1981-1983 (Pre-Macola Years) The Rappers Rapp Team with Duffy, Cletus R. Anderson & Jerry Hooks at the Helm, put out the first 13 Rapp/Hip Hop records from the West Coast. "The Gigolo Rapp" *Rappers Rapp Theme *Ronnie Hudson - West Coast Poplock * Rich Cason -Year 2001 Boogie *Captain Rapp - Bad Times (I Can't Stand It) *Ice T - The Coldest Rapp "Rich Cason - Magic Mikes Theme *DarkStar - Sexy Baby EP" *East Coast Poplock *LA-LA *Ice T - Cold Wind Madness *Back To Love *Disco Daddy - Zodiac Rhymes & DJ FLASH -"I Have A Dream" This was all during 81-82-83 Prior To The Big Macola Record Explosion, which came around 1984. Rappers Rapp Laid the ground work, built the Distribution Pipeline & Broke Down the Doors For Macola & Everything that Followed. West Coast Rap History !!!
