Miss Leola Morris was the longtime love and domestic partner to the legendary blues Balladeer and pioneer Booker T. Washington White. Mentor to his young cousin, BB King, Booker followed the model of the great Charlie Patton, but formed his own unique and incomparable style of blues storytelling. Here is the legend on video, singing about his sweetheart. A subject dear to many blues men, and also a source of their blues.

Born : November 12, 1906* in Houston, Mississippi Died : February 26, 1977 in Memphis, Tennessee * Not any date between 1902-1905 or 1907-1909, as is variously reported. Bukka is a phonetic spelling of White's first name; he was named after the African-American educator and civil rights activist Booker T. Washington (2).
