She wanted to be able to serve her guests in grand style. She bought everything from cake dishes, to goblets and coffee mugs. That night she sang at the Hamburg Musikhalle, it was another triumph for the woman who was acting as the "unofficial Ambassador of Good Will" in England, France, Germany and Italy. Everything was perfect, the piano, the acoustics, the audience and especially Mahalia. Again the audience was so enthusiastic - they literally forced Mahalia to change her clothes and continue the concert in a plain street dress and Indian moccasins. One man said she was a miracle.
