A fantastic 1967 documentary by Albert Gendelshtein titled 'Dmitri Shostakovich - Sketches for a portrait of the composer'. There's a lot of rare footage in this. In addition to Dmitri, there's footage of his son Maxim Shostakovich, Leonid Kogan, Sviatoslav Richter, Galina Vishnevskaya, Mstislav Rostropovich, Vladimir Nemirovich-Danchenko, Evgeny Mravinsky, and a re-creation of the legendary concert in which Karl Eliasberg conducted the seventh symphony.  More info here: https://www.greatpianists.org/articles/dmitri-shostakovichs-moscow-premiere https://www.greatpianists.org/articles/leonid-nikolayevs-class-of-piano-geniuses https://www.greatpianists.org/articles/dmitri-shostakovich-reviews-vladimir-sofronitsky https://www.greatpianists.org/articles/russian-pianists-at-the-1927-chopin-competition Альберт Гендельштейн - Дмитрий Шостакович - Святослав Рихтер - Мстислав Ростропович - Владимир Немирович-Данченко - Леонид Коган - Галина Вишневская - Карл Элиасберг - Максим Шостакович - Евге

In the early 1990s, other alternative rock acts suc...
