In 1989, Del toured Australia on his Crime Story Tour. He appeared live on the Midday Show with Ray Martin, and played two songs, Runaway and Hats off to Larry, backed by the house band led by Geoff Harvey. There is an interview between both songs where Ray asks Del about individual songs. One highlight is Del talking about yodeling and at 8.42 he demonstrates it by singing one of my favourite Hank Williams songs, Long Gone Lonesome Blues, and perfectly. Del's single of Hey Little Girl was the first single I ever bought as a ten year old (and I didn't buy another one until into my teenage years). I have always loved Del, and saw him live playing in Orlando FA while travelling in the eighties. He played with a pick up band and was great. The video quality is not great but the sound is pretty good, and the performance and interview fairly historic IMHO.

About The House Band

The House Band was a musical group formed in Edinburgh in 1984 by musicians Ged Foley, Jimmy Young, Iain Macleod and Chris Parkinson. They played original compositions and traditional music in a Celtic/British folk style, with influences from reggae, country, pop, jazz and world music. Successive regroupings of the band released nine albums over seventeen years, touring in United Kingdom, Europe, Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the United States, before finally disbanding in 2001.
