William Henry Cosby Jr. is an American retired stand-up comedian, comedian, actor, and author who had an active career for over six decades, starting in 1961. Cosby's greatest television success was The Cosby Show, which debuted in September 1984 and ran for almost a decade. Cosby was very athletic as a teenager and has been a sports fan throughout his life. In 2018, Cosby was imprisoned for aggravated indecent assault before the judgment was vacated two and a half years later by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Cosby began his career as a stand-up comic at the hungry i in San Francisco during the 1960s. During this time he released a prolific amount of standup comedy records winning the Grammy Award for Best Comedy Album multiple times winning the category consecutively from 1965 to 1970.
