Sinead O'Connor is profiled on a March 1990 episode of MTV's 120 Minutes hosted by Dave Kendall. The BetaGems channel also has "Sinead O'Connor 12-8-90 performance & award from Joni Mitchell," "Wired 6-30-88 Big Country, Iggy Pop, Buster Poindexter, Sinead, etc," "Sinead O'Connor 2-22-89 primetime TV performance," "Sinead O'Connor 11-2-94 late night TV performance 2 songs," "Sinead O'Connor TV performance 4-24-92," "Sinead O'Connor 2-19-91 hits on Arsenio, sings," "Sinead O'Connor 2-19-88 U.S. Top of the Pops," "Sinead O'Connor 5-29-90 SDSU San Diego UNRELEASED," and "Van Morrison, Sinead O'Connor & the Chieftains 5-17-95 late night TV," as well as an entire playlist of uploads called "Vintage MTV & VH1 programming 1980s-1990s." BetaGems are culled from an archive of over 1000 beta video tapes recorded from 1983 into the 1990s. Most feature live music performances broadcast on television in San Diego CA, though there are also rarely seen commercials, comedy clips, and other material that doesn't seem to be anywhere else on Youtube or online. Most of the tapes were recorded on a Sony SL-HFT7 Super Beta Theater Hi-Fi Stereo - the same model was refurbished and is being used for these digital transfers and uploads. In rare occasions where a BetaGems clip does appear elsewhere, we're only uploading if our own beta master is better quality or contains material not seen previously. Much footage comes from public television and public access broadcasts that the taper monitored nightly for several years. Some of the programming is strictly regional, mostly from the San Diego area. This upload features materials protected by the Fair Use guidelines of Section 107 of the Copyright Act. All rights reserved to the copyright owners. To be used for research and archive purposes only, no commercial reproduction allowed. If the copyright owner wants this upload deleted, simply ask and we'll do so immediately - please don't file a copyright strike! This channel is not monetized, we're just old senior citizen tapeheads trying to archive lost pop culture artifacts for all to enjoy.
Sinéad is an Irish feminine name. It is derived from the French Jeanette, which is cognate to the English Janet, itself a feminine form of the Hebrew Yohanan, "God forgave/God gratified". In English, Sinéad is also commonly spelled Sinead. The name is generally translated into English as either Jane or Jennifer, or as the Scottish female name Jean.
