What You DIDN'T Know About the Love Music Video - OK Go

OK Go
Rareyoutube

This is Love—the only song there’s ever been and the most technically ambitious OK Go music video to date. Shot in a (nearly) subfreezing Hungarian train station, the whole thing relied on the meticulous choreography of 29 robots and the incredible expertise of over 60 brilliant minds. (Among them, of course, were co-directors Damian Kulash, Aaron Duffy, and Miguel Espada.) But the thing we’re most proud of here isn’t technical achievement—it’s feeling. This song is among the most sincere we’ve ever written, so the challenge was to deliver all of our trademark visual spectacle while *also* tugging a heartstring or two. We aimed for more than mirror trickery and Kodachrome; we were after something resonant, multiplex, ever-expansive. Something like love itself. So, this video is about connection—the universes it contains and unfurls. But as it turns out, we’d need to use math and several metric tons of machinery to get there, putting robots in service of a distinctly human phenomenon. We will say: they were a pleasure to work with. Never missed a cue. Never flubbed a take. We hope you enjoy.
